Malaysia Internship

SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli campus has taken an initiative to collaborate with the National Youth Council, Universities and Companies at Kuala Lumpur & Selangor, Malaysia for an International Internship Program. 15 students from Engineering and Technology (CSE, CSE-AIML, CSE-Cyber Security and ECE) and 8 students from Science and Humanities (B.Com (Gen), B.Com (ISM) and BBA) got selected to attend the Students’ International Internship Program at Malaysia from 02.07.2023 to 08.07.2023. The aim of the India - Malaysia International Immersion and Internship program is to help the students to get global understanding through educational and cultural exchanges.

After reaching Malaysia on 02.07.2023, the students visited Iconic Putrajaya, the administrative capital of Malaysia. An event "Treasure Hunt / Ice breaking session" was conducted at Putrajaya. The purpose of the event is to understand various Ministries (Finance, Customs, Domestic Trade, Housing, State Trade and Treasury) of Malaysian Government. The event inculcated team building and leadership skills in the young minds of SRMIST.

           Youth Forum was held at 6.30 pm. Hon YB Imran, Member of Legislative Assembly, Selangor State and President of Selangor State Youth Council discussed about the opportunities for the youth in Selangor. Subsequently, a Q&A session was conducted.

The School of Computing, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Tiruchirappalli, is pleased to share the successful inauguration and completion of the One Day Panel Discussion on “AI-Powered Bionic Eye: Restoring Vision through Technology and Healthcare Innovation” , held on 23 January 2026 in hybrid mode (physical & online). This event was organized as an Official Pre-Summit Event of the @AIImpactSummit2026, aligned with the national vision of “AI for People, Planet, and Progress”, and supported by @IndiaAI, an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. The program featured insightful and impactful deliberations on: AI-driven visual signal processing Neural interfaces and bionic eye hardware systems Clinical and surgical perspectives in vision restoration Ethical, regulatory, and policy considerations in AI-enabled healthcare We were honored to have Mr. Nishanth Nalan (Director/ Practice Head- Life Sciences, ACL Digital) as the Chief Guest in the physical mode , whose industry insights and visionary perspective greatly enriched the on-campus session. We were equally privileged to host Dr. Ethirajan D. (Scientist-F and Centre Head, C-DAC Chennai) as the Chief Guest in the online mode , whose expert address added immense value to the discussions. The panel discussion served as a vibrant interdisciplinary platform for faculty members, healthcare professionals, industry innovators, and UG/PG/PhD students to engage in meaningful knowledge exchange at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, biomedical engineering, and healthcare innovation.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Faculty of Science & Humanities, SRM Institute of Science & Technology (SRMIST), Tiruchirappalli, organized a Voters' Day Pledge in the campus on January 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The event aimed to educate students and faculty about the importance of voting and encourage them to participate in the electoral process. Key Highlights: - Dr. D.Francis Xavier Christopher, Dean FSH, emphasized the significance of voting and its impact on the country's future. - Dr. M Suresh, NSS Program Officer and the Team of NSS organized the program. - 140+ students along with 20+ Staff took the pledge on Voting. - The event was part of the NSS unit's efforts to promote civic engagement and community service Importance of Voting communicated during the event: - Voting is a fundamental right and a crucial aspect of democracy. - It allows citizens to participate in the decision-making process and shape the country's future. - Encourages responsible citizenship and community involvement The program aligns with the National Voters' Day theme, My India, My Vote, and the Election Commission of India's efforts to promote voter education and participation

The Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science and Humanities, organized a Faculty Enrichment Program titled “ Excellence in: Manuscript Quality, Citation Strategies and Winning Research Proposals for Top-Tier Publishers ” on 10 January 2026. The program was designed to strengthen research competencies and enhance scholarly publication standards among faculty members.
