A New Chapter Begins at SRMIST Tiruchirappalli!
Greetings from SRMIST!
The Faculty of Science and Humanities (FSH), SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Tiruchirappalli Campus, proudly welcomed 500+ first-year UG and PG students to the Academic Year 2026–27 at the SRM Auditorium under the visionary leadership of Dr. R. Shivakumar, Chairman, SRM Group of Institutions, Chennai–Ramapuram & Tiruchirappalli.
The programme commenced with an invocation, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the Kuthuvilakku. Dr. D. Francis Xavier Christopher, Dean, Faculty of Science and Humanities, delivered the welcome address and extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries, parents, faculty members, and freshers.
The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Mohd. Sameeruddin Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor; Dr. K. Kathiravan, Director – Admission; and Prof. (Dr.) G. Vairavel, Director – Academics & Educational Initiatives, SRM Group of Institutions.
In his Presidential Address, Dr. R. Shivakumar, Chairman, SRM Group of Institutions, inspired the students to pursue academic excellence with discipline, integrity, and a commitment to innovation.
The Chief Guest, Dr. C. Raj Mohan, Director – Business Head India, University Champion & NexCen Program Leader, was introduced by Dr. Sudipta Kumar Pal, Vice Principal – Academics, Institute of Hotel Management. In his keynote address, Dr. Raj Mohan motivated the students to leverage the University's academic ecosystem, develop future-ready skills, embrace Artificial Intelligence, and begin preparing for successful careers from the very first day.
Seven student representatives shared their experiences and encouraged the freshers to actively participate in academics, skill development initiatives, and campus life.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. J. Prince Antony, Vice Principal – Administration, Institute of Hotel Management, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, Chief Guest, faculty members, organizers, parents, and students for making the inaugural function a grand success.
The programme concluded with the National Anthem, marking the successful commencement of the Academic Year 2026–27
