The Department of Management conducted a hands-on training session on Tally Prime for BBA students. The objective was to provide practical exposure to digital accounting, inventory control, GST compliance, and payroll management. Students were introduced to the basic features, needs, and key terms of Tally such as company, ledger, stock item, and unit of measure. They practiced creating a company, setting up units and stock items, and creating ledgers for purchase, sales, creditors, and debtors. The session also covered types and uses of ledgers, preparation of purchase/sales accounts and the profit & loss account.
The workshop provided a comprehensive guide to mastering accounting using Tally Prime, focusing on key features for efficient financial management. Attendees learned how to navigate Tally’s interface, manage company accounts, and process voucher entries for daily transactions. Key topics included GST compliance, generating financial reports like Profit & Loss Statements and Balance Sheets, bank reconciliation, and Tally Prime customization to meet business-specific needs. Additionally, the participants learned how to configure Tally with GST (CGST & SGST) and handle Payroll by creating employee groups, adding employee names, attendance, salary components, bonus, and overtime. The training helped students gain industry-relevant skills in accounting software, enabling them to apply theoretical concepts in a practical environment.
