SKETCH AND SPEAK: BASICS OF ACCOUNTING - 30.07.2025
The Department of Commerce organized an engaging and interactive session titled "Sketch and Speak: Basics of Accounting" on 30th July 2025. The event targeted I B.Com (Accounting and Finance) students and aimed to deepen their understanding of accounting principles using innovative visual methods. It encouraged creativity, critical thinking, and confidence in communication —contributing meaningfully to inclusive and equitable quality education.
Objectives
- To reinforce core accounting concepts through visual representations.
- To build communication confidence in students by encouraging them to explain accounting
- principles creatively.
- To foster active participation through sketch-based learning and collaborative activities.
This academic activity supports the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
SDG 4 – Quality Education
The session promoted inclusive, equitable, and quality education through creative teaching methods that catered to diverse learning styles. Target 4.4: Increase the number of youth with relevant skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
By fostering foundational commerce and accounting skills along with soft skills such as communication and teamwork, the session supported the development of a future-ready workforce. Target 8.6: Reduce the proportion of youth not in employment, education or training.
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
The event demonstrated collaborative efforts within the institution (faculty-student partnerships) to build a more dynamic and skills-focused educational ecosystem.
The “Sketch and Speak” session successfully turned traditional accounting teaching into a dynamic, participative, and creative learning experience. It not only contributed to academic learning but also aligned with global education and skill development goals under the SDG framework. The Department of Commerce is committed to conducting more such student centric, SDG-linked initiatives in the future.
