The Department of Management conducted a hands-on training session on Tally Prime for BBA students. The objective was to provide practical exposure to digital accounting, inventory control, GST compliance, and payroll management. Students were introduced to the basic features, needs, and key terms of Tally such as company, ledger, stock item, and unit of measure. They practiced creating a company, setting up units and stock items, and creating ledgers for purchase, sales, creditors, and debtors. The session also covered types and uses of ledgers, preparation of purchase/sales accounts and the profit & loss account. T he workshop provided a comprehensive guide to mastering accounting using Tally Prime, focusing on key features for efficient financial management. Attendees learned how to navigate Tally’s interface, manage company accounts, and process voucher entries for daily transactions. Key topics included GST compliance, generating financial reports like Profit & Loss Statements and Balance Sheets, bank reconciliation, and Tally Prime customization to meet business-specific needs. Additionally, the participants learned how to configure Tally with GST (CGST & SGST) and handle Payroll by creating employee groups, adding employee names, attendance, salary components, bonus, and overtime. The training helped students gain industry-relevant skills in accounting software, enabling them to apply theoretical concepts in a practical environment.

Sampritta, NSS Volunteer With the dedicated support of the SRM Medical team and enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff, the camp was a grand success. A total of 68 units of blood were collected, reinforcing the NSS motto: “Not Me But You”.

Institute-Level Smart India Hackathon 2025 – Idea Selection @ SRMIST Tiruchirappalli T he Institution Innovation Council (IIC) Wing, Faculty of Science & Humanities, SRMIST – Trichy successfully organized the Institute-Level selection for Smart India Hackathon 2025 on 23rd September 2025. The event commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. M. Nagarajan, IIC - Co-Ordinator for FSH and following this, Dr. F.X. Christopher, Dean – FSH, delivered the Felicitations, emphasizing the importance of the Smart India Hackathon as a national initiative and lauding the efforts of students and faculty mentors in fostering a culture of innovation within the institution. A total of 10 enthusiastic teams presented their innovative ideas, showcasing creativity, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurial spirit. Poster Making Competition – World Suicide Prevention Day The Wellness Club and Culinary Club of the Faculty of Science and Humanities successfully organized a “Poster Making Competition” in observance of World Suicide Prevention Day. The event aimed to raise awareness about mental health, inspire hope through action, and encourage positive mental well-being among students. This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well- Being), which emphasizes ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all. Students from various departments of the Faculty of Science and Humanities actively participated in the competition. Multiple teams from different programs showcased their creativity and understanding of the theme through impactful and original poster creations. Participants followed the competition rules regarding poster size, word limit, and content originality.

The School of Computing, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Tiruchirappalli, successfully conducted a 5-Day National Level Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “ICT-61: AI and Cloud-Based Tools for Effective Teaching & Learning”, in collaboration with Wadhwani Foundation for AI and NITTTR Chandigarh, from 15th September to 19th September 2025. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members from various institutions. Eminent experts from industry and academia, alongside NITTTR faculty, delivered insightful sessions covering the latest trends and tools in AI and cloud-based technologies for education. The program provided participants with hands-on experience, interactive discussions, and practical insights to enhance teaching-learning processes through AI and cloud tools. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the practical relevance and knowledge enrichment gained from the FDP.
