The IoT INNOVATE – 2025 workshop, held on 7th and 8th August 2025 at SRMIST Tiruchirappalli, provided students with hands-on experience in the Internet of Things (IoT). Organized by the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science and Humanities, the event covered key topics like smart connectivity, embedded systems, and sustainable IoT solutions. Dr. Jehan Murugadhas, Professor at the University of Technology & Applied Sciences, Oman, delivered an insightful keynote address. Participants engaged in setting up IoT devices, exploring cloud integration, and collaborating on real-world problem-solving challenges. The workshop featured expert talks, DIY projects, and hackathons, fostering innovation. The event concluded with certificate distribution and networking opportunities. IoT INNOVATE – 2025 empowered students to develop skills for the future of connected, sustainable technologies.

The Faculty of Science and Humanities at SRMIST, Tiruchirappalli, organized the second session of the Alumni Talk series aimed at preparing students for their professional journey. The resource person, Ms. A.R. Vasanthalakshmi, an accomplished alumna currently working as a Tester at Accenture, shared valuable insights into career readiness and skill development. Participants gained practical tips for skill enhancement, industry readiness, and professional growth. The session encouraged students to take a proactive approach toward learning and self-development. The event successfully connected alumni with current students, fostering a culture of mentorship and continuous improvement. It also strengthened the bond between SRMIST’s alumni community and the institution.

The Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli Campus, successfully organized a co-curricular activity “Corporate Clash – The Ultimate Brand Hunt” on 21st August 2025 (Thursday) at the Seminar Hall, Room No: 513, 5th Floor. The engaging quiz competition was conducted through the interactive platform Kahoot, exclusively for the I, II, and III year BBA students. The event was coordinated by Dr. V. Ramidha, Assistant Professor, under the supervision of Dr. J. Saradha, Head of the Department. The activity aimed at enhancing students’ brand knowledge, competitive spirit, and quick decision-making skills. The quiz featured multiple rounds covering logos, taglines, brand strategies, and corporate marketing concepts, encouraging students to apply their knowledge in a fun and collaborative environment.

Day 1 (04.08.2025) The School of Computing, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli, hosted the Fresher’s Inaugural Function for the Computer Science and Engineering Batch (2025–2029) on August 4, 2025, at the SRM Auditorium. The event welcomed students and parents into the SRMIST community with inspiring addresses from dignitaries, including Dr. R. Jagadeesh Kannan, Dean, FET, and Chief Guest Dr. S. D. Sudarsan, Executive Director, CDAC Bengaluru, who emphasized innovation, interdisciplinary research, and real-world projects. The program also featured motivational messages from Prof. (Dr.) Md. Sameeruddin Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Dr. K. Kathiravan, Director of Admissions, and concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. S. Kanaga Suba Raja, Associate Dean. The ceremony set a purposeful and enthusiastic beginning for the 2025–2029 batches. Day 2 (05.08.2025) On the second day, August 5, 2025, the School of Computing at SRMIST Tiruchirappalli held the Freshers’ Inaugural Function for the CSE – AIML, Blockchain, and Software Product Engineering batch (2025–2029) at the SRM Auditorium. Dr. R. Jagadeesh Kannan, Dean, FET, encouraged students to embrace sincerity, innovation, and holistic growth, while Chief Guest Shri. Krithiwas Neelakantan, Director at Palo Alto Networks, highlighted the power of technology, network effects, and the need to become “Purple People” with both technical and communication skills. The event was presided over by Shri. S. Niranjan, President, Co-Chairman, SRMIST Tiruchirappalli and Ramapuram, with motivating messages from Prof. (Dr.) Md. Sameeruddin Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Dr. K. Kathiravan, Director of Admissions. The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. R. Balaji Ganesh, leaving the 2025–2029 batch inspired to begin their academic journey. Day 3 (07.08.2025) On the third day, August 7, 2025, the School of Computing at SRMIST Tiruchirappalli hosted the Fresher’s Inaugural Function – 2025 at the SRM Auditorium, warmly welcoming the new undergraduate students and their parents. Dr. R. Jagadeesh Kannan, Dean, highlighted the School’s vision and urged students to embrace sincerity, creativity, and growth, while Chief Guest Dr. M. Saravanan, Principal Researcher at Ericsson, inspired them to innovate, think entrepreneurially, and solve real-world problems. Prof. (Dr.) Md. Sameeruddin Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, shared words of encouragement, and the event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. R. Deebalakshmi, setting a purposeful tone for the 2025 batch.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE SKETCH AND SPEAK: BASICS OF ACCOUNTING - 30.07.2025 The Department of Commerce organized an engaging and interactive session titled "Sketch and Speak: Basics of Accounting" on 30th July 2025. The event targeted I B.Com (Accounting and Finance) students and aimed to deepen their understanding of accounting principles using innovative visual methods. It encouraged creativity, critical thinking, and confidence in communication —contributing meaningfully to inclusive and equitable quality education. Objectives To reinforce core accounting concepts through visual representations. To build communication confidence in students by encouraging them to explain accounting principles creatively. To foster active participation through sketch-based learning and collaborative activities. This academic activity supports the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals SDG 4 – Quality Education The session promoted inclusive, equitable, and quality education through creative teaching methods that catered to diverse learning styles. Target 4.4: Increase the number of youth with relevant skills for employment and entrepreneurship. SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth By fostering foundational commerce and accounting skills along with soft skills such as communication and teamwork, the session supported the development of a future-ready workforce. Target 8.6: Reduce the proportion of youth not in employment, education or training. SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals The event demonstrated collaborative efforts within the institution (faculty-student partnerships) to build a more dynamic and skills-focused educational ecosystem. The “Sketch and Speak” session successfully turned traditional accounting teaching into a dynamic, participative, and creative learning experience. It not only contributed to academic learning but also aligned with global education and skill development goals under the SDG framework. The Department of Commerce is committed to conducting more such student centric, SDG-linked initiatives in the future.
