The School of Computing, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Tiruchirappalli, is pleased to share the successful inauguration and completion of the One Day Panel Discussion on “AI-Powered Bionic Eye: Restoring Vision through Technology and Healthcare Innovation” , held on 23 January 2026 in hybrid mode (physical & online). This event was organized as an Official Pre-Summit Event of the @AIImpactSummit2026, aligned with the national vision of “AI for People, Planet, and Progress”, and supported by @IndiaAI, an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. The program featured insightful and impactful deliberations on: AI-driven visual signal processing Neural interfaces and bionic eye hardware systems Clinical and surgical perspectives in vision restoration Ethical, regulatory, and policy considerations in AI-enabled healthcare We were honored to have Mr. Nishanth Nalan (Director/ Practice Head- Life Sciences, ACL Digital) as the Chief Guest in the physical mode , whose industry insights and visionary perspective greatly enriched the on-campus session. We were equally privileged to host Dr. Ethirajan D. (Scientist-F and Centre Head, C-DAC Chennai) as the Chief Guest in the online mode , whose expert address added immense value to the discussions. The panel discussion served as a vibrant interdisciplinary platform for faculty members, healthcare professionals, industry innovators, and UG/PG/PhD students to engage in meaningful knowledge exchange at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, biomedical engineering, and healthcare innovation.
