The event took place at the IST 611 venue on the 6th floor of the SRMIST building, drawing a significant audience of students, researchers, and faculty members eager to explore the frontiers of artificial intelligence. The session was led by the distinguished Dr. Predrag S. Stanimirović, a Professor from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Department of Computer Science at the University of Nis, Serbia. Dr. Stanimirović, a renowned expert in computational mathematics, provided a comprehensive deep dive into two specialized and evolving fields of neural modeling.

The core of the lecture focused on the structural intricacies and mathematical foundations of Graph Neural Networks (GNN) and Zeroing Neural Networks (ZNN). Dr. Stanimirović explained how GNNs revolutionize the processing of non-Euclidean data, allowing for sophisticated analysis of relational data such as social networks, molecular structures, and recommendation systems. The Department of Commerce, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli, organized a Certificate Course on Practical Aspects of Goods and Services Tax (GST) as part of its Add-on/Value-added initiatives. The course was conducted from 25th September 2025 to 7th October 2025 with the objective of providing students with practical exposure and conceptual clarity on the functional aspects of GST.

A total of 50 students from the Department of Commerce actively participated and benefitted from the sessions. The course was designed to combine conceptual understanding with hands-on illustrations, including balance sheet examples, compliance requirements, and GST documentation.

The HR Club of the Department of Business Administration organized HR QUEST – The Talent Titans League to foster experiential learning and enhance HR knowledge among BBA students. The event aimed to promote critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities through an engaging competition.

The event comprised two rounds:

HR Quiz – Tested participants’ understanding of core HR concepts.

Connection Round (buzzer) – Challenged creativity through HR-related puzzles.

Out of 15 teams from I BBA, II BBA, & III BBA, five teams were shortlisted in the first round, and Three teams advanced to the final. Finally, the Top three teams secured the first, second, and third places, demonstrating their analytical ability, spontaneity, and HR acumen. The session concluded with appreciation from faculty members and enthusiastic participation from students, making it an insightful and enjoyable learning experience aligned with the goals of holistic education and innovation.

Two Days Hands on Workshop - Mastering Accounting in Talley Prime

The Department of Management conducted a hands-on training session on Tally Prime for BBA students. The objective was to provide practical exposure to digital accounting, inventory control, GST compliance, and payroll management. Students were introduced to the basic features, needs, and key terms of Tally such as company, ledger, stock item, and unit of measure. They practiced creating a company, setting up units and stock items, and creating ledgers for purchase, sales, creditors, and debtors. The session also covered types and uses of ledgers, preparation of purchase/sales accounts and the profit & loss account.

T he workshop provided a comprehensive guide to mastering accounting using Tally Prime, focusing on key features for efficient financial management. Attendees learned how to navigate Tally’s interface, manage company accounts, and process voucher entries for daily transactions. Key topics included GST compliance, generating financial reports like Profit & Loss Statements and Balance Sheets, bank reconciliation, and Tally Prime customization to meet business-specific needs. Additionally, the participants learned how to configure Tally with GST (CGST & SGST) and handle Payroll by creating employee groups, adding employee names, attendance, salary components, bonus, and overtime. The training helped students gain industry-relevant skills in accounting software, enabling them to apply theoretical concepts in a practical environment.

Health & Wellness Initiatives Session on Women’s Health

The Women Empowerment Cell, in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Humanities, organized a Health & Wellness Initiatives Session on Women’s Health to create awareness among girl students about preventive healthcare and lifestyle practices.

Highlights of the Session

Adequate Sleep – The resource person emphasized the need for at least 7 hours of quality sleep to maintain physical and mental well-being
Balanced Diet & Exercise – The session highlighted the importance of following a nutritious diet along with regular physical activity to strengthen immunity and prevent lifestyle-related diseases.
Cervical & Breast Cancer Awareness – Students were sensitized about the importance of early detection and screening for cervical and breast cancer, which can save lives through timely intervention.
Menstrual Hygiene Practices – Proper menstrual hygiene was stressed as a key factor in ensuring better reproductive health and preventing infections.
HPV Vaccination – The necessity of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination was discussed, recommending three doses for girls aged 9–14 years. The vaccine, now available in India, was highlighted as an effective preventive measure against cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases.
Regular Health Check-ups & Stress Management – Students were encouraged to adopt routine health check-ups and practice stress management techniques like yoga, meditation, and relaxation exercises to maintain a balanced lifestyle.

Outcome

The session created awareness among the participants about the importance of preventive healthcare, reproductive health, and healthy lifestyle choices. It also motivated them to take proactive measures towards their personal well-being.

Day 2 (05.08.2025)

On the second day, August 5, 2025, the School of Computing at SRMIST Tiruchirappalli held the Freshers’ Inaugural Function for the CSE – AIML, Blockchain, and Software Product Engineering batch (2025–2029) at the SRM Auditorium. Dr. R. Jagadeesh Kannan, Dean, FET, encouraged students to embrace sincerity, innovation, and holistic growth, while Chief Guest Shri. Krithiwas Neelakantan, Director at Palo Alto Networks, highlighted the power of technology, network effects, and the need to become “Purple People” with both technical and communication skills. The event was presided over by Shri. S. Niranjan, President, Co-Chairman, SRMIST Tiruchirappalli and Ramapuram, with motivating messages from Prof. (Dr.) Md. Sameeruddin Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Dr. K. Kathiravan, Director of Admissions. The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. R. Day 3 (07.08.2025)

On the third day, August 7, 2025, the School of Computing at SRMIST Tiruchirappalli hosted the Fresher’s Inaugural Function – 2025 at the SRM Auditorium, warmly welcoming the new undergraduate students and their parents. The Department of Commerce organized an engaging and interactive session titled "Sketch and Speak: Basics of Accounting" on 30th July 2025. The event targeted I B.Com (Accounting and Finance) students and aimed to deepen their understanding of accounting principles using innovative visual methods. It encouraged creativity, critical thinking, and confidence in communication —contributing meaningfully to inclusive and equitable quality education.

Objectives

To reinforce core accounting concepts through visual representations.
To build communication confidence in students by encouraging them to explain accounting
principles creatively.
To foster active participation through sketch-based learning and collaborative activities.

This academic activity supports the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

SDG 4 – Quality Education

The session promoted inclusive, equitable, and quality education through creative teaching methods that catered to diverse learning styles. Target 4.4: Increase the number of youth with relevant skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

PROFESSIONAL LECTURE SERIES- 8

The Professional Lecture Series 8 was held on 28-04-2025 as two sessions. Morning session was held at Seminar Hall: 611, IST Block, SRM IST, Trichy. Resource Person is Dr. Tharani R PT, Sports Physiotherapist, Padukone- Dravid center for sports excellence presented a topic on “Understanding Biomechanics for injury prevention in sports” .

Dr. Tharani R PT shared her insights on Why the Biomechanics matters in sports?, prevalence and types of sports injuries with physiotherapy students. This lecture will help students analyze a biomechanical errors and risk factors associated with various sports like running, cricket, basket ball, volley ball weight lifting and jumping, and injury prevention strategies during their practice. The students were actively involved and demonstrated various sports to the resource person.

Followed by that, afternoon session was conducted to UG final year and PG students. The resource person highlighted the importance mechanism and faults associated with sports injuries. The students were gained knowledge in unique biomechanical demands in each sport and Physiotherapist role in preventing sports injuries.

The Professional Lecture Series 7 was held on 25-03-2025 at multipurpose hall, College of Physiotherapy, SRM IST, Trichy. A Resource Person Prof. Dr. Koteeswaran, Saveetha Institute of medical and technical institutes, Chennai presented a topic on “Recent trends and approaches in Physiotherapy clinical practice”. The resource person emphasized the discipline, time management and how to do the diagnostic approach in clinical practices to Physiotherapy students. This session expanded the students’ knowledge of diagnostic approach and also encouraged them to adopt an integrated approach in their future clinical practices, making it a highly beneficial and stimulating learning experience.

Supported by resource persons from Jet Aerospace, Kerala, this workshop aimed to equip participants with practical skills in UAV technologies, from basic drone assembly to programming and calibration. This workshop aimed to equip participants with hands-on skills in drone technology, covering areas from fundamental drone concepts to advanced programming and career prospects. The event attracted a diverse group of students from various Institutions, all eager to delve into UAV technologies.

The workshop began with an inauguration ceremony, where Dr. S. Kanaga Suba Raja delivered the Welcome Address. He greeted the distinguished guests, resource persons, and participants, expressing gratitude to the organizing team and emphasizing the workshop's potential impact on participants' technical skills in UAV technology.

Following the welcome address, Dr. N. Sambandam, Executive Director of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli, delivered the Presidential Address. He highlighted the transformative potential of UAV technology in sectors like agriculture, defense, and logistics, encouraging participants to leverage the skills they would gain over the course of the workshop.

Dr. R. Jagadeesh Kannan, Dean (E&T) at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli, gave the Felicitation Address, applauding the collaboration with Jet Aerospace, Kerala, and its experts. Day 1: UAV/Drone Basics, Glider Fabrication, Balancing, and Testing

Date: November 11, 2024

The first day introduced participants to the basics of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), focusing on different drone types, flight dynamics, and the principles of aerodynamics. Participants then engaged in a hands-on session on glider fabrication, where they learned to build a simple glider from scratch. This was followed by balancing and testing exercises, giving them insights into the factors that affect flight stability and control.

Day 2: Drone Simulator, Configurations, FPV Systems, and Application Sensors

Date: November 12, 2024

The second day was dedicated to familiarizing participants with drone simulators, allowing them to practice flight control and navigation virtually. Sessions covered different drone configurations, such as quadcopters and hexacopters, and an introduction to First Person View (FPV) systems. Additionally, participants learned about various sensors used in drones, such as GPS, LIDAR, and thermal cameras, which enhance functionality for specific applications like surveying and environmental monitoring.

Day 3: Drone Avionics Components and Assembly

Date: November 13, 2024

On Day 3, participants delved into the avionics components critical for drone operation, including motors, ESCs (Electronic Speed Controllers), propellers, and power distribution systems. The hands-on session focused on assembling these components into a functioning drone. The facilitators emphasized the importance of correct wiring, secure component installation, and efficient energy management.

Day 4: Programming Calibrations, Flight Controller Setup, and Testing

Date: November 14, 2024

The fourth day introduced participants to programming and calibrating the flight controller, a core component for drone stabilization and movement. After an in-depth calibration session, participants tested their assembled drones and practiced flight maneuvers. Drone Simulator training was also provided for participants to practice advanced flying techniques in a controlled environment.

Day 5: Intelligent Mode Features and Career Opportunities

Date: November 15, 2024

The final day explored intelligent modes such as GPS hold, return-to-home, and follow-me functionalities, showcasing the automation potential in drones. An informative session was held on career opportunities in the drone industry, covering fields like aerial photography, surveillance, delivery services, and agricultural mapping.

Valedictory Function

The workshop concluded with a valedictory function on the fifth day. Dr. N. Sethuraman, Chief Director of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli and Ramapuram campus, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He distributed certificates to all participants, acknowledging their successful completion of the workshop. He also presented mementos to the resource persons from Jet Aerospace, Kerala, as a token of appreciation for their expertise and dedication throughout the sessions.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr.N.Saranya, expressing gratitude to the organizers, resource persons, and participants for their contributions to making the workshop a success. Donation Camp titled "Donate a Drop Save a Life" conducted on 25.09.24 at 10.30. a.m.

Objective of the Camp:

The primary objective of the blood donation camp was to address the ongoing blood shortage in local hospitals and medical facilities. By encouraging community members to donate blood, the aim was to replenish blood supplies and potentially save lives.
An Awareness session was given to students on donating blood which can help improve blood flow, reduce arterial blockages, balance iron levels, and lower the risk of heart attack and cancer.

Donors were greeted by the NSS volunteers and directed to the registration area, where they provided their personal information and underwent a brief medical screening to ensure eligibility for donation. Eligible donors proceeded to the donation area, where trained medical staff collected blood samples using sterile equipment. Donors reclined comfortably during the donation process,

The blood donation program lasted till 3 pm. 56 Units of blood were collected.

100+ NSS volunteers were participated in the event.

The day started with an enthusiastic gathering with the senior citizens of TRUST to celebrate the day. Dr.Manikam, Physical Director of SRMIST gave instructions to do yoga, important asanas, and postures taught to the aged people. around 35 inmates actively participated in the yoga program. The occupational Therapy family went to the digital school Tution centre which is run by Manitham charitable Trust to celebrate yoga day. The main Aim of the program was to raise awareness among the youth about the harmful effects of drug abuse and illicit trafficking and to promote global understanding.

The day started with the welcome address by Dr. D. Suresh, Dean of Occupational Therapy, SRMIST. He welcomed the dignitaries and extended warmest greetings to each one who came for the program. The Program was attended by all the students of BOT, BPT, and AHS colleges

The presidential address was delivered by our respected Director Dr.Malmurugan. He pointed out that substance abuse refers to harmful/ hazardous substances including alcohol and illicit drugs. Felicitation address was given by Dr. V.P.R. Sivakumar, Assistant Director of FHHS – SRMIST. He emphasized the importance of good habit formation will help to overcome addiction to drugs. Dr. Kumar Ebenezer. K, Principal of AHS SRMIST pointed out that drug abuse can be minimized by educating the youth by providing adequate information and facts. Guest speaker Mrs.M.Pavithra, Founder and President of Sunrise Foundation ( Psychiatric Counselling And De- Addiction centre) in her speech deliberated about illicit drugs and their harmful effect on the mind, body, and soul. She clearly explained the meaning of addiction and its psychological, social, and emotional effects on the individual and society. The Program was fruitful and interactive with many students asking doubts and questions.

Thryve IIIT Sri city Health care Hackathon 2023 was conducted by IIIT SRI CITY, Sri Madusudhan sai Institute of medical research and Thryve digital. The Health care Hackathon 2023 was conducted for about 72 hours where around 1800 students from 380 colleges all over India had Participated. Mr. SRISIVASUBBRAMANYAN and Mr. SRIHARI of III BTECH CSE from SRM INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY TIRUCHIRAPPALLI won the 3rd place and got a cash prize of Rs. 1, 00,000. Malaysia Internship

SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli campus has taken an initiative to collaborate with the National Youth Council, Universities and Companies at Kuala Lumpur & Selangor, Malaysia for an International Internship Program. 15 students from Engineering and Technology (CSE, CSE-AIML, CSE-Cyber Security and ECE) and 8 students from Science and Humanities (B.Com (Gen), B.Com (ISM) and BBA) got selected to attend the Students’ International Internship Program at Malaysia from 02.07.2023 to 08.07.2023. The aim of the India - Malaysia International Immersion and Internship program is to help the students to get global understanding through educational and cultural exchanges.

After reaching Malaysia on 02.07.2023, the students visited Iconic Putrajaya, the administrative capital of Malaysia. An event "Treasure Hunt / Ice breaking session" was conducted at Putrajaya. The purpose of the event is to understand various Ministries (Finance, Customs, Domestic Trade, Housing, State Trade and Treasury) of Malaysian Government. The event inculcated team building and leadership skills in the young minds of SRMIST.

Youth Forum was held at 6.30 pm. Hon YB Imran, Member of Legislative Assembly, Selangor State and President of Selangor State Youth Council discussed about the opportunities for the youth in Selangor. Subsequently, a Q&A session was conducted.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirapalli Campus is conducting a 21-day Online International Faculty Development Program on Data Science Tools from July 12th 2023 to 1st August 2023. The inaugural ceremony, followed by Day-1 session was held on 12.07.2023 at 6.45 pm. The chief guest Dr. Prof. Jai Ragunathan, Assistant Head, School of Ocean Technology Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Around 550 participants across the country attended the program. The Chief Guest discussed about the usage of Machine Learning algorithms for Data Science applications.

Earlier, Dr. S. Kanaga Suba Raja, HOD /CSE welcomed the gathering and discussed about various job opportunities to be available for data science professionals in India in 2025. The Chief Director, Dr. N. Sethuraman presided over the function and talked about how Data Science plays a vital role in facilitating every organization for taking business decisions, planning, future forecasting, etc. The Director, Dr. N. Malmurugan delivered a special address and talked about the importance of Big Data Analytics. He also explained about various popular tools for data analytics. The Dean (E&T), Dr. Jagadeesh Kannan delivered the felicitation address and highlighted the top research areas in data science.

The Day-1 session was on the topic “Foundational Mathematics for ML and Data Science” by Prof. Dr. Jakkepalli Pavan Kumar, Department of CSE, NIT, Trichy. The Faculty of Engineering & Technology, SRMIST, Tiruchirappalli Campus conducted a 3-day Hands-on Workshop on ‘Enabling Technologies: IoT for Future Vision’ for the Advanced learners of II Year B. Tech from 19.01.2023 to 21.01.2023. The Sessions were handled by Mr. Sethuramalingam and Er. Vivekananthan, Technical Trainers from Riyasaa Labs, Nagercoil and Mr. Suresh Kannan and Mr. Maruthupandi, Project Engineers from Vi Microsystems Pvt.Ltd., Chennai. The Students Experimented various IoT mini projects using Embedded Kits such as Raspberry Pi 2040, Arduino, NodeMCU and other boards developed by Riyasaa Labs and Vi Microsystems.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. N. Malmurugan, Director, SRM Group of Institutions, Trichy campus and delivered the Presidential address. He discussed about the future research areas of Internet of Things (IoT). Dr. R. Balasundaram, Associate Dean, felicitated the speakers and discussed about the applications of IoT. Dr. R. This course was jointly hosted by School of Design Thinking, Intellect 8012 and DEI, SRM Institute of Science and Technology. The convocation ceremony was conducted on 11.07.2023 to award completion certificates to the Faculty members.

Our Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan presided over the convocation function. Dr. Arun Jain, Chairman & Managing Director, Intellect awarded the certificates to the Faculty members. Dr. Anbu Rathinavel, Co-founder & Head, School of Design Thinking and Dr. Shantanu Patil, Associate Director, Directorate of Entrepreneurship and Innovation were also present during the convocation with members of SoDT, Intellect and SRMIST.

The Session was handled by Dr. K. Uma Maheshwari, Department of IT, Anna University, Tiruchirappalli.

Prof.R.Krishnamoorthy, Dean-FET welcomed the speaker, and the gathering. The speaker interacted with the students and explained in detail about the concepts of Backtracking, Branch and bound, Randomization and Approximation algorithms. Through this Special Lecture the students learned about the applications of various algorithm in order to solve a computational problem. The session was very useful to the students.

They gave dance performances and played a skit depicting the birth of the Christ. The Santa Claus danced and distributed chocolates to all, thereby rejoicing the audience. Sasidharan, Second year Cardiac Care Technology student has delivered the vote of thanks.

Totally 45 students from Cardiac Care & Cardio Perfusion technology students were particiapted the rally. The students were distributed the pamphlets which is expalining about the “Care your Heart & Key Chain” around 500 publics including NHAI office people, Polic department and commuters.

World Diabetes Day

The college of Allied Health Science, Faculty of Medicine & Health Science, SRM Institute of Science and Technology has organized outreach program on “Diabetes” in view of “World Diabetes Day-22” on 14 ^th November 2022 (Monday) at Head Post Office, Trichy between 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. The theme of the program was make an awareness on “EDUCATION TO PROTECT TOMORROW” combine with “ACCESS TO DIABETES CARE” among the post office employers and public communities about the pre and post check up, precautionary measures, diagnosis and diet maintenance.

The program was started with thamil thai valthu followed by welcome address delivered by Mr.Sukumar, Deputy Superintendent, Postal Division – II, he invited all the dignitaries, students and employers followed by Dr. A.Sundararajan, Vice principal- AHS, SRMIST, has delivered the presidential address. He has to be highlighted the shooting prevalence of diabetes and its impact and educate people about the preventive tips of diabetes. He also focused on effectively detecting and diagnosing the diabetes. This would definitely provide a mental support to the patients and help the patient to understand its current situation to help prevent from any other complications.

Mr.G.Senthil kumar delivered the special address for this programme. Dr. M. Manoj Kumar, Asssistant Professor, TSRMMCH & RC has delivered the keynote address and he expalined in detail about functioning of pancreas, insulin secretion and involvement of insulin in diabetes, what could be causes, laboratory investigations, prevention and management of diabetes patients. He also explain about risk factors for diabetes, neuropathy, nephropathy and retinopathy. Finally, Mr. Jambulingam, Head Post Office, Trichy. has delivered the vote of thanks.

The students were distributed the pamphlets to head post office employers and public, which is containing about the “Diet food for Diabetes patients”. Totally 12 students were prepared around 15 stalls about symptoms of diabetes and it were displayed the various places of Head post office, Trichy division for their awareness.

Bharathiya Basha Program was celebrated by FET, SRMIST, TRC collaboratively with Campus Life at 3 PM on 13.12.2022 in the lobby of IST building. The B. Tech. students from various states displayed the charts they have prepared in their respective languages. As a tribute to Indian heritage, the students gave dance performances such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Thiruvathirai depicting Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala traditions and cultures respectively. The students enjoyed the spirit of unity in diversity.
